DETENTION
WEDNESDAY, 1 JAN 2012
ft. DJ ASH (RESIDENT DJ, SEVEN, MELBOURNE) & DJ DAVE DOES
“WHERE IT PAYS TO GET CAUGHT!”
On Wednesdays, we’re leaving textbooks and inhibitions at the door and surrendering ourselves to music, booze and our very own headmistress. Report for detention before 12 midnight and get an ‘F’ stamp by the headmistress.
Get F’ed 16 times and you might just find yourself winning one of the 3 grand prizes of a pair of tickets to Bangkok to live it up VIP style with the Bangkok Invaders. So here’s to those who have had contentions with authority, a disdain for silence or an irrepressible need to march to their own beat.
At Detention, we celebrate your attendance just because parties were always made for the naughty ones.

**********ABOUT ASH**********
ash / SHLY have been holding an exclusive weekly residency at Australiaʼs premier Friday night at Seven Nightclub, Melbourne, for the past three years. They also hold a Saturday night residency at Bass Lounge and Melbourneʼs largest Asian quarterly one-off festivals at famed Australian club, CQ Nightclub.
Originally hailing from Malaysia, ash started DJ-ing in 2004 in Australia. Since then, he …has played most of Melbourneʼs finest nightclubs and bars. The list
includes Neverland, Roxanne Parlour, Alumbra, Baroq House, Valve, Beach Club, Loft, Next Blue, Platform One, Lexington, Equinox, Gravity Bar, Evolution, Metro, Chasers and Brown Alley.
On the global front, ash has already delivered his blend of Mash-Up/Top40/RnB/Hip-Hop sounds with gigs at DXO (Singapore), Indochine (Singapore), China Black (Singapore) and Soho (Sarawak, Malaysia).
ash has also played special events such as Akonʼs official Australian tour afterparty, T-Painʼs official Australian tour afterparty, MC Jin @ Neverland, Mizz
Ninaʼs Merdeka tour, Too Phatʼs Joe Flizzow Melbourne showcase, Montell Jordanʼs concert, Justin Timberlakeʼs dancersʼ afterparty and Australian Idol
showcase event.
In 2007, ash delved into the Mash-Up scene after heavy influence from the late DJ AM. One can testify that ash started the Mash-Up scene in Melbourne with
his residency at the famed Seven Nightclubʼs Sideroom as this started a chain of competitors trying to replicate ashʼs new project. Until today, ash continues to lead Melbourneʼs Mash-Up scene with his creativity by mixing assorted music genres in his set.
Always innovating (just because innovation is their motivation) and differentiating, ash developed a new moniker in 2009. Under the guise of SHLY, he drops sounds of Electro/Dirty-Dutch/Fidget/House/Indie-Dance and once again, changing and freshening up the Australian nightlife scene.
This new adventure has also brought ash to start Melbourneʼs leading Asian online music, culture and l i f e s t y l e magazine p o r t a l , zOMG! PARTY!
As this new project continues to develop, ash / SHLY were involved with special events featuring the likes of Lapsap (Malaysia), Inquisitive (Singapore), Noodles
(Taiwan), Bangkok Invaders (Thailand) and Dj Fuzz (Malaysia).
With their diverse sounds, ash / SHLY can do a specialized set of a specific genre or a mashed set that they are famed for in Melbourne. Whatever it is, just get ready to party!
